A random male and female sample of45-69-year-old Novosibirsk residents (n=9360; HAPIEE project) was surveyed. CF was tested by standard methods. Resurvey was conducted in a random subsample (n=1663) included in this analysis. The mean follow-up period was 8.8 years (SD 1.1).</p></sec><sec><title>Results and discussion</title><p>Results and discussion. The test for semantic verbal fluency revealed its dynamic decline in all age groups, which was steeper in women than in men (p&lt;0.001). Persons aged 70 years and older showed negative changes in memory, verbal fluency, and attention (p&lt;0.001). Persons with primary (6%) and vocational (26%) education had steeper rates of decline in delayed recall (p=0.011; 0.038) than those with university education (35%).</p></sec><sec><title>Conclusion</title><p>Conclusion. It is established that a dynamic decrease in CF begins at the age of55—59years; it is steeper among those aged 70 years and older. An age-related decline in memory function is accelerated in persons with lower educational levels.</p></sec></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Изменения когнитивной сферы при старении в российской популяции изучены недостаточно.</p><p>Цель исследования — оценить динамику показателей когнитивных функций (КФ) в двух серийных измерениях за 9лет в городской популяции среднего, пожилого и старческого возраста и их связь с уровнем образования.</p><sec><title>Пациенты и методы</title><p>Пациенты и методы. Обследована случайная популяционная выборка мужчин и женщин 45—69 лет, жителей Новосибирска (n=9360; проект HAPIEE). Тестирование КФ выполнено стандартными методами. Повторное обследование проведено в случайной подвыборке (n=1663), включенной в настоящий анализ. Средний период наблюдения составил 8,8 года (SD=1,1).</p></sec><sec><title>Результаты и обсуждение</title><p>Результаты и обсуждение. В тесте на семантическую беглость речи выявлено динамическое снижение во всех возрастных группах, более выраженное у женщин, чем у мужчин (р&lt;0,001). Улиц 70лет и старше установлена отрицательная динамика показателей памяти, семантической речевой активности и концентрации внимания (p&lt;0,001). У лиц с начальным (8 и менее классов средней школы; 6%) и профессиональным (26%) уровнями образования выявлена большая скорость снижения показателей в тесте отсроченного воспроизведения (р=0,011; 0,038), чем у лиц с высшим образованием (35%).</p></sec><sec><title>Заключение</title><p>Заключение. Установлено, что динамическое снижение КФ начинается в возрасте 55—59 лет, оно более выражено в группе лиц 70 лет и старше.
