Therapeutic exercises and a gradual increase in motion loads and social and daily living activities play a leading role in the treatment of spasticity. Botulinium toxin type A is recognized to offer a highly effective and safe treatment for poststroke spasticity, as confirmed by clinical trials conducted in accordance with the principles of evidence-based medicine. The application of a personalized poststroke rehabilitation program permits the maximum result to be achieved in a considerable number of patients. The paper reviews the literature on spasticity and a clinical case that demonstrates an individual approach to treating poststroke spasticity.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Постинсультная спастичность встречается у многих пациентов и часто затрудняет восстановление утраченных двигательных функций. Ведущее значение в лечении спастичности имеют лечебная гимнастика, постепенное увеличение двигательных нагрузок, социальной и бытовой активности. Высокоэффективным и безопасным методом лечения постинсультной спастичности признано использование ботулининического токсина типа А, что подтверждено данными клинических исследований, проведенных в соответствии с принципами доказательной медицины. Использование индивидуальной программы постинсультной реабилитации позволяет добиться максимального результата у значительного числа больных.
