It increases the burden of diseases and overloads healthcare systems. Therefore prevention strategies are currently on the cutting edge and becoming more and more essential. The article discusses approaches to preventing the most common mental and neurological disorders in middle and old age. It also describes cerebrovascular disease, dementia, cognitive impairment, and stroke and outlines some state-of-the-art prevention strategies.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Развитие подходов к профилактике неинфекционных заболеваний приобретает все большее значение. Описываются основные, наиболее часто встречающиеся в практике психиатров и неврологов расстройства зрелого и позднего возраста, такие как цереброваскулярное заболевание, инсульт, умеренное когнитивное расстройство, деменция, и обсуждаются современные походы к их профилактике. Отмечается, что здоровое питание, психическая и физическая активность могут рассматриваться как первая линия защиты от развития и прогрессирования сосудистых расстройств, додементных состояний и деменции.
