The definition of diabetic encephalopathy is given. Whether there is a relationship between diabetic encephalopathy and diabetic polyneuropathy is considered. It is concluded that it is expedient to identify diabetic encephalopathy as a complication of DM. The capacities of pathogenetic treatment for diabetic encephalopathy are shown.</p>
